Mothers Day – Toddler & Kids Art

Toddler and pre-school Art Playgroup in the Inner West of Melbourne.

• Suits kids 1-5 years old (younger siblings welcome and free).

What will we be doing?

There will be a few different activities happening all at the same time, so the kids can walk around, move between things, change what they are doing, and choose something they are interested in.

This week will be a special Mothers Day event!

We will be outside in a fenced off garden, doing lots of creative and arty things:

• drawing, scribbling and stamping their hearts out
• there will be butchers paper straight on the floor for open ended fun
• lots of painting
• painting a heart plaster to take home to mum
• using special window crayons to draw on the windows
• colouring in sheets on clipboards that they can walk around with
• there will be 2 kids easels for them to stand up with
• drawing with chalk on the concrete footpath
• some water play
• playing with sand and sand toys
• having lots of fun!

(if it’s raining, or too hot, we will be indoors – same location)

These sessions are more about learning to love art, than creating any final masterpiece. The kids are always encouraged to express themselves however they like and be creative, so if they are more interested in mixing all the coloured paint together and putting handprints on the paper than anything else, it’s more than fine! They will still enjoy themselves. :)

• Can help teach kids that mess is ok, and making mistakes is ok too.
• You don’t have to think of an art activity to do at home.
• You don’t have to clean up afterwards!

This is also a great way to give your kids the experience of painting and making lots of mess, if you the parent are a bit apprehensive about making that mess yourself at home. Come to my sessions and make the mess with me, keeping your house clean.

There is no pressure and a very easy going environment. There will be lots of scribbles, there will be smooshes of paint that you can’t recognise as a picture, and there will be some great photos that you can take.

• Snacks and breastfeeding welcome.
• I’ll be taking photos throughout the morning and using them for marketing and promotional purposes. If you’d prefer your child is not included please simply let me know.
• We will be painting, so please dress accordingly!
• I have some art smocks, but only a limited amount. Depending on how many children attend, there may not be enough for all. If you have your own art smock please bring it along.
• If your child has any allergies please let me know, as I often use recycled fruit cartons etc.
• The center have asked that we all sign in as a visitor when entering. This is on an iPad on the reception desk.
• We are in a community room inside the ‘Newport Gardens Early Years Centre’ – which is the same room that the Hobsons Bay Toy Library uses on a Thursday and Saturday. To find us, simply walk into the building, and turn left at the reception desk.
• There is free car parking at the venue.

Exchange and refund policy

I know parenting can be tricky, and sleepless nights, sickness and tantrums occur. Firstly, if you’re having a bad morning don’t feel like you need to stay home, this is a group of parents and we will all understand. This is a safe space and meltdowns are fine! (in saying that, please bring snacks to help avoid hangry kids!)

• All bookings made within 24 hours of purchase can receive a refund, no questions asked, just send me a request. – tegan@thefuninart.com.au
• Up to 24 hours of class, if you send me through a request I can change your ticket to another upcoming pop-up class (if there are availabilities in your chosen replacement).
• Within 24 hours of class, no refunds or exchanges sorry. Please feel free to gift your ticket to a friend!
