About this event

Course for young people 15 – 24. Come learn how to be a soccer referee (Level 4) with Football Victoria!

This course is for young people aged 15-24. Priority will be given to those who live in Hume, however, those who are connected to the City of Hume will still be considered.

Football Victoria want to build your leadership skills by becoming a paid referee.

Multicultural, female and gender diverse young people are encouraged to apply!

Course Details:

Online Component:

The first step is an online component where you will learn more about becoming a soccer referee, this will include learning the laws of the game, understanding the role of a referee and completing online modules.

Hume Youth Services and Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) are available to support you to complete the online components during the April school holidays.

  • Date: Thursday 2 April – Friday 1 May 2026

Practical Component:

Practice what you’ve learnt on the soccer pitch!

Online learning modules must be completed prior to attending the practical session.

Football Victoria will practice game situations with you and train you in how to referee in real league games.

  • Date: Saturday 2 May 2026
  • Time: 9:00am – 1:30pm
  • Location: Hume City FC, Barry Rd, Meadow Heights 3049

When you have completed the online and practical training you will be given a uniform, referee equipment and start being booked into games as a paid referee.
