Support Dementia Australia with Every Step

The 2026 Geelong Memory Walk & Jog is just weeks away, taking place on Sunday, 3 May at Eastern Beach Reserve. This event is part of Dementia Australia’s largest annual fundraising initiative, designed to bring communities together to get active, connect, and support Australians living with dementia, their families, and carers. In Victoria alone, 113,900 people are estimated to be living with dementia in 2026. It is now the leading cause of death in the country, and projections indicate that without significant intervention, over one million Australians could be living with dementia by 2065. This alarming statistic underscores the importance of events like the Memory Walk & Jog in raising both awareness and funds.

In 2026, there are 14 Memory Walk & Jog events scheduled across the nation. These events provide opportunities for people all over Australia to participate in this vital cause. Interested participants can find their nearest event by visiting memorywalk.com.au/find-an-event. The Geelong event will feature MCs Tully Smyth and Woody Whitelaw, promising a fun and family-friendly day where people of all ages and abilities can walk, jog, or run. These gatherings are not only about raising funds but also about creating a welcoming space to connect, share stories, and support the 446,500 Australians currently living with dementia, as well as the 1.7 million people involved in their care.

Join the Movement

Every step taken at the Geelong Memory Walk & Jog contributes to expanding support services and innovative research through Dementia Australia. As the number of Australians affected by dementia continues to grow, raising funds and encouraging everyone to get active for their brain health becomes increasingly important. Funds raised will help Dementia Australia deliver essential support services, expand life-changing programs, and drive innovative research, bringing us closer to a future where dementia no longer impacts Australian families.

For those who cannot attend the Geelong event, there is still an opportunity to make a difference. Organise your own group or individual walk or jog with a MyWay event, choosing your own date and location. Register your participation at memorywalk.com.au/get-involved/mw. This flexibility ensures that everyone can contribute to the cause, no matter where they are.

Dementia Australia serves as a source of trusted information, education, and services for the estimated 446,500 Australians living with dementia and the more than 1.7 million people involved in their care. They advocate for positive change and support vital research. For support, contact the National Dementia Helpline at 1800 100 500, where interpreter services are available.
