Festival Part of NSW Government's Tourism Initiative
BERRY — Berry, NSW, is set to host a vibrant jazz and blues festival on March 19 and 22, part of the ‘A Day Well Spent’ live music series. This event aims to enliven the village with performances from renowned artists, attracting both locals and visitors, according to event organizers.
The festival, supported by the NSW Government’s UPTOWN Grant Program, is part of the ‘Extend the Weekend’ initiative. Kate Dezarnaulds, the precinct coordinator, explained that the February event exceeded expectations and generated significant interest. ‘People were genuinely surprised by the calibre of musicians performing,’ she said.
Impressive Lineup of Artists
This March, attendees can look forward to performances by the Frank Sultana Blues Band, a winner of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, and South Coast favourites Tall Shaun & The Resolution. The lineup also includes Jr & The Jewel Tones, Tyler Hauptberger, and contemporary jazz groups such as Blue Mallee and Ella’s Holiday.
Local venue operators reported higher-than-expected crowds during the event’s opening weekend. Bridie Brooker from The Great Southern Hotel noted, ‘We genuinely didn’t expect it to be that busy…there was a fantastic buzz around town.’
The festival is part of a broader strategy to promote off-peak tourism, aligning with the NSW Visitor Economy Strategy 2035. The programme not only supports local artists but also helps venues collaborate and extend live music offerings beyond traditional peak times.
