Experts meet in Parkville on 22nd July 2026

Clinicians, researchers and consumer groups will gather in Melbourne on Wednesday 22nd July 2026 to press for a National Brain Health Strategy.

A media doorstop is scheduled for 12:00pm in the Seminar Room at the Ian Potter Auditorium, University of Melbourne, Parkville.

Organisers will examine the growing impact of concussion and chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, along with stroke, dementia, migraine, epilepsy and acquired brain injury.

Speakers will also focus on early diagnosis, timely access to care and the barriers people face in Australia’s fragmented brain health system.

National Brain Health Strategy

Dr Mukesh Haikerwal AC will also speak with media on 22nd July 2026. He is a general practitioner, works with Brain Injury Australia and serves as co-chair of Australia’s Brain Health Summit.

In material issued before the summit, organisers argued for national backing for brain health, stating: “It’s time brain health received a national commitment, because without a healthy brain, there is no healthy person. Without healthy people, there is no healthy workforce and without a healthy workforce, there is no healthy economy.”

Following the interviews, media can stay for Australia’s Brain Health Summit, which will feature short presentations from clinicians, researchers and consumer organisations.

Those sessions will outline practical steps towards a National Brain Health Strategy.
