Governance award and UK AI Lab hackathon win boost Capco

Capco received two major honours on 26 June 2026, winning the AI Governance & Risk Excellence Award at the OpenAI Partner Summit 2026 in San Francisco and the OpenAI Codex Hackathon through its UK AI Lab.

At the summit, the Wipro-owned consultancy earned the governance award for delivering enterprise-grade AI in highly regulated sectors, including financial services and energy.

The award recognised Capco’s work helping clients scale AI with confidence while reducing risk, strengthening compliance and improving customer outcomes.

Meanwhile, the hackathon win came after a contest involving more than 30 teams and over 100 participants from across the OpenAI partner ecosystem.

Its UK AI Lab secured first place with Sentra, a consulting-led, AI-powered retail banking solution built to support frontline teams.

Sentra uses digital twin technology to identify vulnerable customers and recommend explainable next-best actions for retail banking staff.

Executive response

Srini Pallia, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Wipro Limited, said, “Capco is uniquely positioned to help clients unlock the full value of AI through a consulting-led, AI-powered approach built on deep domain expertise, trust and customer focus.”

Pallia added, “OpenAI’s recognition is a strong validation of the responsible and scalable AI solutions we are building for clients and our own business.”

He also said, “These honours mark another important step in accelerating our AI strategy with Wipro Intelligence™ and reinforce Capco’s expert advantage in delivering AI-enabled advisory and scalable solutions that create lasting value.”

Following those wins, Capco’s results also highlighted its status as an early strategic partner in the OpenAI beta partner programme since 2025.

Since joining that programme in 2025, the consultancy has worked closely on emerging enterprise capabilities with OpenAI.

Together, the 2026 award and hackathon title strengthen Capco’s position within the OpenAI partner ecosystem and underline its focus on responsible deployment in complex regulatory environments.

For almost 30 years, Capco has worked across capital markets, banking, payments, insurance, wealth and asset management, as well as energy and utilities.

Profile, Capco is a global technology and management consultancy that serves the financial services and energy industries as part of Wipro.

Its advisory, technology, data and AI teams help clients set priorities, connect strategy to value and deliver measurable impact when the stakes are high.
