Three $2 Commonwealth Games coins roll out from 15 July 2026

Woolworths customers paying in cash can collect three limited-edition $2 Commonwealth Games coins in their change from 15 July 2026.

Woolworths and the Royal Australian Mint launched the coin programme on 1 July 2026 to celebrate the 2026 Australian Commonwealth Games team.

A different sport-themed design will reach cash tills each week over three weeks at most Woolworths registers, while stocks last.

Week one, starting on 15 July 2026, features gymnastics. Week two, from 22 July 2026, features 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball. Week three, from 29 July 2026, features athletics.

Royal Australian Mint designs

Royal Australian Mint designers created the coins with illustrations that highlight the dedication of Australian athletes.

Customers cannot buy the coins separately in store. Instead, they will only be available through cash change at checkout.

Sarah De La Mare, Woolworths Head of Community and Sponsorships, said: “Teaming up with the Royal Australian Mint for these coins is a really fun way to bring that green and gold excitement into local stores, giving shoppers a little piece of history as we cheer our athletes on.”

Woolworths is the official Fresh Food Partner of the 2026 Commonwealth Games. De La Mare also linked the campaign to Woolworths support for local grassroots clubs and elite athletes.

Meanwhile, Royal Australian Mint chief executive Emily Martin said: “The coins celebrate the Commonwealth Games as one of the world’s largest international multi-sport events and recognise the achievements of our athletes.”

Martin urged shoppers to check their change at Woolworths from 15 July 2026. The coins are strictly limited edition and available only while stock lasts at most registers.

Commonwealth Games Australia chief executive Craig Phillips AM welcomed Woolworths and the Mint as official partners of the Australian Commonwealth Games Team.

Phillips said this is the third Commonwealth Games coin programme created through a Woolworths partnership with the Mint.

According to Commonwealth Games Australia, the coins give Australians a tangible way to connect with the team before athletes head to Glasgow.

Earlier Woolworths and Mint collaborations included the Commbank Matildas, Vegemite, The Wiggles, and previous Olympic and Commonwealth Games editions.

Collectors will need to watch the weekly release dates closely because each design enters tills on a different Wednesday.

The promotion runs from 15 July 2026 to 29 July 2026 across the three weekly releases.
