SUNDAY — 8 November, Burwood Reserve Family Social @ Burwood Reserve, Glen Iris Sun 8 Nov | Meet 9:30am | Free | Everyone welcome
We’re a week later than usual this month — we’ve hopped over the Melbourne Cup long weekend. 🌿
Second-last catch-up of the year, and a great excuse to explore Burwood Reserve if it’s new to you. We’ll start with a coffee at Ivy Lane, then wander over to the recently updated playground for a proper play-and-chat morning. Equipment spans the ages, so siblings are all looked after. Come stretch the legs, let the kids loose and enjoy a warm spring morning together before the December rush hits. Bring the whole crew — mums, dads, bubs, toddlers, grandparents. We especially love it when the dads come along!
How the morning flows (come and go as suits you)
- From 9:30am — meet at Ivy Lane, order a coffee and something to eat if you’d like (on you — we just love supporting a great local). ☕
- From ~9:50am — coffees in hand, we’ll wander over to Burwood Reserve together (about a 10-minute stroll). Want to skip the coffee? There’s plenty of parking on site, so just meet us at the playground from 10am.
- Until around 12 — kids do their thing, we do ours, and you head off whenever suits.
The weather ☀️ Update closer to the day once the forecast’s in — sun/rain, temp, and whether to pack an extra layer.
Good to know
- 🧒 Fenced from the road (Warrigal Rd side) — though not fully enclosed, so we keep the littlest ones close.
- ⛱️ Shade on site, including a covered picnic table — but still bring hats, as parents watching from the edges catch the sun.
- 🚻 Toilet and BBQ on site.
- 👦 Equipment for a range of ages, plus a little bike/scooter jumps area the bigger kids love.
- 🏏 There’s a sportsground next door (cricket, footy, tennis) — lovely to watch, just be mindful of games on and cars around at drop-off/pick-up.
- 🅿️ Plenty of on-site parking, accessed via Warrigal Rd.
Can’t find us? Look for the bunch of prams and the mums and dads all congregating together — that’s us! Come say hi. 🧡 Or message us on Instagram and we’ll come find you.

Burwood Reserve Playground is a favourite with local parents for its open space, new play equipment and big shade trees. The vibe is always relaxed on a Sunday morning, with kids darting between the slides and parents chatting over takeaway coffees. The reserve is tucked away from busy roads, so it feels safe to let little ones roam. Regulars say it’s one of those rare spots where you actually get to have a conversation while the kids are happily occupied. This monthly event is ideal for new parents or families looking to make local connections without the pressure of a formal group. It’s especially nice if you crave a bit of grown-up chat while your kids burn off energy. Unlike many Melbourne playgroup meet-ups, there’s no booking, no cost and no pressure to stay for the whole time-just show up and join in.
