Create charming, patterned girls using a playful mix of washi tapes, collage elements, and watercolour!

This 2-hour mixed-media workshop is perfect for beginners and anyone who loves character art, cute aesthetics, or creative layering.

You’ll learn how to combine simple shapes, patterned tapes, and loose watercolour washes to create expressive girls filled with personality.

We’ll explore layering, balance, colour harmony, and how to let collage guide your imagination.

Bring your curiosity — all materials are provided, or you’re welcome to bring your favourite washi tapes, papers, or brushes if you prefer.

You’ll walk away with:

  • A finished mixed-media artwork of your patterned girl
  • New skills to combine collage and watercolour
  • A PDF handout you can keep practising with at home

10:00 — Welcome & Materials Overview Meet your facilitator and explore the washi tapes, collage papers, and watercolour tools provided.

10:10 — Warm-Up: Simple Shapes & Character Silhouettes Loosen up with contour shapes and quick girl sketches.

10:20 — Washi & Collage Techniques Learn layering, trimming, ripping, placement, and combining patterns.

10:35 — Watercolour Overlays Add soft washes, define facial features, and bring your girl to life.

11:20 — Personal Project Time Create your own patterned girl with one-on-one guidance.

11:50 — Group Share & Wrap-Up Final touches, photos, and takeaway tips.

Do I need experience? No experience needed at all! This workshop is beginner-friendly and open to all levels.

Are materials provided? Yes — all art materials are included. You’re also welcome to bring your own washi tapes, papers, brushes, or watercolour sets if you prefer.

Where is the session held? At Melbourne Central Skybridge. Clear directions will be emailed 2 days before the workshop.

What do I need to bring? Just yourself! Optional: any patterned papers or washi tapes you love using.

Can children join? This workshop is suitable for ages 12+ with a ticketed adult.

Will I receive a handout? Yes, you’ll receive a digital handout after the workshop to keep practising at home.
