Is My Child Ready for School? A Practical Parent Workshop
A practical workshop for parents, with real classroom expectations and honest guidance for your child’s transition to school.
Hosted by Nevena GRAOVAC
About this event
Starting school is a big step, and it can be tough to know if your child is truly ready for the leap. This workshop in Ravenhall offers parents a down-to-earth look at what’s ahead, with practical advice from locals who understand Melbourne’s school system inside and out.
Is your child starting school next year?
Maybe you are wondering:
Will they cope with a full school day?
Will they be able to tell someone when they need help?
What happens if the classroom becomes too noisy or overwhelming?
Will their teacher understand what they need?
And how do you know which school setting is right for them?
If these questions have been sitting in the back of your mind, this workshop is for you.
Join paediatric speech pathologist Nevena Graovac and experienced teacher and behaviour support practitioner Adriana Galinec for an honest, practical workshop about preparing your child for school.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is for parents and carers of children who:
- Are starting school next year
- Have speech or language delays
- Have developmental differences or delays
- Are autistic, have ADHD or have other learning and support needs
- May need additional support or adjustments at school
This is an adults-only event. Children will not be attending.
By the end of the workshop you will:
- Understand what your child will be expected to manage during a normal school day
- Know what children are taught at school and what is helpful to practise beforehand
- Feel clearer about your child’s strengths and where they may need extra support
- Understand what support you can ask the school to provide
- Leave with a practical plan for what to do next
