A conclusion to an ongoing interactive story set in the vampiric underworld of Melbourne. Based on the world of Vampire: the Masquerade.
It is a time of ceremony. Prince King has abdicated his throne and his wife is to take his place. On this night, she summons the Kindred of Melbourne to sacred Elysium where she shall claim dominion over the World’s Most Liveable City’s black underbelly through the Traditions of the sinister conspiracy known as the Camarilla. She shall establish her court, reward her deserving subjects, and reaffirm the Traditions.
But claims can be contested, and those who have cheated death will ever resort to theft, violence, and treachery to appease their unholy appetites. There are those who tire of the crumbling Clan of Kings and others who remember Princes with claims of their own. Of course, some simply demand that blood must flow and revel in their monstrousness.
In any case, it is a poisoned chalice for there are whispers that the Camarilla itself is failing, its senior ranks and cities falling before threats both new and very, very ancient. For decades Melbourne has proven a microcosm of the Gehenna War but rarely part of it. As the institutions that have isolated the nation disintegrate, this night may prove a choice between tyranny and ashes.
Premise
Midnight in Melbourne: The Tower is a casual live-action roleplay set in Melbourne’s vampire society based on the world of Vampire: the Masquerade. No experience with the setting or with roleplaying is necessary, but a session of Dungeons & Dragons, improv theatre sports, or a murder mystery party is somewhere close to what you can expect.
This event follows from our last, but it is not necessary to have attended it nor any of our other events to enjoy this one (participants who have attended previous events may be able to portray characters from them with approval). No experience with the event’s systems are necessary (a simplified custom system will be in use with an even simpler version available for new or reserved participants).
Our sixteenth event focuses on the themes found in the sixteenth card of the tarot; The Tower. It’s a card of upheavel, destruction of systems, and revelation. We are also treating it as our finale, resolving as much as we can from what has been built before and encouraging you to end your requiem. We hope to end the night, and this Midnight in Melbourne story, with ashes.
We are so pleased to return to Rubix Warehouse and collaborate with them in creating this event once again.
Food not available on site, but can be found nearby. A half hour Intermission is scheduled for 7pm (approx).
Attire and Costuming
It is recommended to “dress like a vampire.” Media to consider when dressing include many classic vampire films and TV shows including Interview With The Vampire, Blade, The Lost Boys, From Dusk Til Dawn, True Blood, Twilight, Underworld, Angel, and (probably most accurately) What We Do In The Shadows.
Please avoid weapon props, especially those that look realistic..

Your style of dress will determine which of the vampiric clans you will be cast into.
Clan Ventrue
The proud Clan Ventrue are the aristocrats and self-appointed rulers of vampire society. A new Ventrue Prince is to be inaugurated and establish her court, having engineered her husband’s abdication and exile.
Costumes of a regal, classy, sophisticated, or dignified nature will be cast here.
Ventrue performers should expect to encounter a story of oaths and outrage, honour and betrayal, and dignity in the face of fate.
Clan Tremere
The sorcerous Clan Tremere are a highly disciplined lodge of warlocks whose famous loyalty to the Camarilla did not prevent them from bewitching the previous Prince. It is unknown how a new Prince will reflect on such a legacy.
Costumes of an esoteric, legal, mysterious, or occult nature may be cast here.
Tremere performers should expect more available reading materials than other clans, and to feel the constraints of power when it requires collaboration and collusion.
Clan Malkavian
The enigmatic Clan Malkavian are an insane collection of seers, prophets, and psychopaths famed as much for their lunacy as their insight. They have previously ruled Melbourne under Prince Eclipse and the enigmatic Mad Prince Moon.
Costumes of an eccentric, medical, unorthodox, or incongruous nature will be placed here.
Malkavian characters will be given firm direction to actively avoid comical characters, which can be offensive to some and contradict the themes of the event. Note that no new members of the Moon bloodline that has featured in our storyline may be introduced.
Clan Toreador
The decadent Clan Toreador are the most artistic, captivating, and decadent of the Kindred. Having purged their ranks of anarchs under the Prince of Adelaide, they seek to join the new court of Melbourne.
Costumes of a flamboyant, beautiful, elegant, or sexual nature will be cast here.
Though this clan has appeared in our chronicle before, the Toreador for this episode will be different to those depicted previously and we ask for new Toreador characters. This is a fresh bouquet.
Clan Gangrel
The feral Clan Gangrel are wild, animalistic predators and hunters. Those in Melbourne have paid lip service to the Camarilla unlike many of their clan, which has a history of shifting allegiance.
Costumes that are rural, dirty, bestial, or savage will be cast here.
We encourage Gangrel performers to remember that this clan is meant to be feral, not fuzzy. Though a degree of uncouth behaviour is expected, though remember to respect the other performances.
