Picket Line Launch: A working class response to AI
Join ACF to launch the next edition of Picket Line. Discuss AI's impact on the working class and hear about our workplace organising
Hosted by Anarchist Communism Federation
About this event
AI is changing the working landscape, but most Melbourne events on the topic miss the grassroots view. Picket Line Launch brings together locals to talk honestly about tech and work from a working-class angle, making space for real stories and practical ideas.
Join ACF to launch the next edition of Picket Line. Discuss AI's impact on the working class and hear about our workplace organising
Join us to launch the next edition of Picket Line, our bimonthly publication. Come and discuss the Anarchist Communist Federation’s analysis of the AI industry and hear inspiring stories about workplace organising.
It’s impossible to avoid AI – from threats that it will destroy humanity to AI slop filling our social media feeds. We’ll discuss our analysis on the current and potential impacts of AI from a working place perspective.
We’ll also hear from an ACF member about their current inspiring workplace organising in bush regeneration. Hear directly from workers getting organised and learn how to apply their lessons to your workplace.
Come pick up a copy of Picket Line which has articles on both topics and more. Join us to discuss the Anarchist Communist Federation’s analysis and stick around afterwards for a chat over a tea.
Venue is wheelchair accessible with a lift to level 2 and accessible bathrooms on level 2. Please reach out to us if you have any questions.
Balam Balam Place is tucked among Brunswick’s classic terrace houses and warehouses, often used for grassroots gatherings and activism. The atmosphere is open and informal, attracting people who want to get stuck in and swap stories rather than sit through lectures. You’ll meet organisers, workers and locals who care deeply about how technology shapes our jobs and lives. This event is perfect for anyone curious about labour rights, AI impacts outside the corporate spin, or just looking to connect with organisers on the ground. It stands out in Melbourne for its unapologetically working-class, participatory feel-a far cry from the usual panel talk or industry showcase.
