Speed Date Your Builder™ is one day designed to help you choose your builder with more confidence and avoid costly mistakes.

Planning to build, renovate or extend in 2027 or 2028?

Speed Date Your Builder™ is a one-day event designed to help Melbourne homeowners feel more confident choosing the right builder — and avoid the costly mistakes that can come from getting it wrong.

You’ll spend the afternoon learning what to look for before you hire, what questions to ask, how to compare builders properly, and what red flags to watch out for.

The day includes a 90-minute workshop on everything you need to know before hiring a builder, an expert panel covering stone, tapware, joinery, window furnishings and lending, and a two-hour speed dating session with hand-selected, independently vetted builders.

You’ll also enjoy drinks and canapés, receive a Building Survival Kit worth $140, and access over $2,000 worth of value across the event.

Because at the end of the day, the builder you choose can make or break your project.

Hyde Melbourne Place sits in the heart of the city, with a relaxed yet professional atmosphere where locals can openly discuss their plans. There’s nothing stuffy here: you’ll find candid conversations, practical advice and a real sense of camaraderie among attendees who are all in the same boat. We love that you can meet several builders face-to-face in one morning, without the usual sales pressure or jargon. If you’re a homeowner thinking about a new build or major reno, this event is worth the investment. It stands out because it puts you in touch with vetted builders and trade specialists, not just sales reps. It’s a rare, hands-on shortcut through what can otherwise be a stressful, drawn-out process.
