Cozey says local buyers are favouring sage and cypress
Green interiors are gaining ground in Australian homes, with Canadian modular furniture brand Cozey reporting strong demand since its local launch in April. Australian customers have added sage and cypress green sofas to cart first, making those shades stand out early.
For years, many Australian homes leaned on crisp whites, warm beiges and coastal-inspired palettes. That style matched the country’s love of natural light, open-plan living and understated design. However, Cozey says Australia’s appetite for green is stronger than in its other global markets.
Across sofas, headboards and washable rugs, Australian shoppers have embraced shades such as sage and cypress green. The brand links that response to the country’s landscapes, including eucalyptus trees, thick rain forests and rolling green seaside hills.
Edmund Lam, Cozey’s VP of Creative Marketing, said, “The appeal of green is that it is both timeless and versatile. Like beige or grey, it can act as a neutral, but it also adds character, warmth and suggests a stronger connection to nature.”
Lam said, “We were pleasantly surprised to see the colour dominate as quickly as it did when we launched in Australia, and we’re seeing no signs of momentum slowing down any time soon.”
Three ways to use the colour at home
First, Lam recommends a statement sofa. A deep sage sofa can create a focal point without feeling too loud or hard to match. For buyers who want flexibility, modular pieces with removable covers include the Atmosphere 3-Seater Sofa with Rounded Arms at $1,985, the Orian Queen Sofa Bed at $2,095 and the Ciello 3-Seater in Cypress Green at $1,875.
Second, shoppers can start small with occasional pieces. The Mira Chair, priced at $325, offers a pop of green without taking over a room.
Third, Lam suggests layering green accents with natural textures. Pairing green with oak and walnut adds warmth and visual depth without a major spend. For example, the Theodore Washable Rug in Forest Haze starts at $105, while the Ushi Extended Dining Set is priced at $2,155.
According to Lam, the shift is bigger than a short-lived fad. He said, “We don’t see this as a passing trend.” He added, “It’s emerging as a new kind of neutral that delivers calm, while still providing warmth and personality to a home. Whether you go big with a green couch or add smaller accent pieces, it’s a colour that has real staying power.”
Cozey launched in Australia in April and sells the local range through its online store. Since then, green has emerged as one of the brand’s most popular colour choices among Australian customers.
