Who We Are
ERA is a trusted, community-focused organisation supporting older people, their families and representatives across Victoria. We provide free, confidential and independent advocacy and services that help people navigate the aged care system.
As a founding member of the national Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN), we proudly deliver the National Aged Care Advocacy Program (NACAP) and the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS), which strengthens social connection for older people experiencing isolation.
We are deeply committed to ensuring that the voices of older people – including Aboriginal communities, people from culturally linguistically diverse backgrounds, LGBTIQ+ communities and people with disability – are heard, respected, and empowered.
ERA operates as a fully remote organisation, with our team working from home and supported with OHS compliant setups. We come together in person in Melbourne CBD approximately every six-eight weeks. This flexible work model, developed in response to staff preferences post COVID, supports accessibility, inclusion and work-life balance, while enabling us to deliver high-quality services across Victoria.
Our Values
Our work is grounded in the core values of Respect, Empowerment, Integrity, Inclusiveness, and Excellence. These values guide how we work with older people, our partners and each other.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a values-driven and experienced leader to join our team as Volunteer Visitor Project Officer – ACVVS.
In this role, you will lead the delivery of ERA’s ACVVS program, supporting a multi-region team and ensuring older people are connected with volunteers who provide friendship, companionship and social connection.
You will provide day-to-day guidance to the team, oversee volunteer engagement, and ensure the program is delivered consistently, safely and in line with funding and reporting requirements.
About the Role
You'll play an important role in delivering the ACVVS program, helping to reduce social isolation and improve the wellbeing of older people through meaningful volunteer connections.
Working collaboratively with the Team Leader ACVVS and broader team, you will:
Recruit, onboard, train and support volunteers across allocated regions
Match volunteers with older people to foster meaningful and lasting connections
Build and maintain strong relationships with aged care providers, volunteers and community organisations
Promote the program and encourage referrals through community engagement and networking activities
Deliver program outcomes and manage an allocated workload in line with funding requirements and KPIs
Maintain accurate records, reporting and program data
Contribute to culturally safe, inclusive and person-centred service delivery
Support the rights, dignity and wellbeing of older people through meaningful social connection
What We’re Looking For
You are a highly organised and relationship-focused professional who is passionate about supporting older people and strengthening community connections.
You will bring:
Experience working with volunteers, community programs, aged care, health or human services
Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
Experience supporting, motivating and retaining volunteers
Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
Experience with administration, reporting and maintaining accurate records and data systems
Knowledge of or interest in the aged care sector and the importance of social connection for older people
A commitment to culturally safe, inclusive and trauma-aware practice
The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while managing responsibilities independently
Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and client management systems such as Salesforce
Desirable:
Experience delivering volunteer training or inductions
Experience working with diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, LGBTIQ+ communities and people with disability
Existing community networks and stakeholder relationships
