Melbourne’s Thai dining scene has a vibrant new addition with the opening of Kan Eang Thai Bistro on Little Bourke Street. Led by second-generation hospitality siblings May and Nathan Pongvattanaporn, this 130-seat bistro blends time-honoured family recipes with modern bistro flair.

The launch night brought together media, food creators, and industry insiders for an intimate sit-down dinner, complete with bold signature dishes and inventive cocktails. Guests enjoyed highlights such as Seafood Tom Yum Linguine, Porterhouse Steak with Thai Chimichurri, and Spicy Fried Chicken Spare Ribs, paired with Banana Colada and Pandan Bloom cocktails.

The space marries a buzzing open kitchen with elegant styling, fresh florals, and personalised touches. Open Monday to Saturday for lunch and dinner, Kan Eang offers $25 CBD lunch sets, $29 bottomless cocktails, and an all-day à la carte menu perfect for work lunches, casual meet-ups, or relaxed evenings out.
