How Markets Are Listed
One listing, every date
Choose "recurring" in the form and set the day and how often: every Sunday, the first Saturday of the month, fortnightly. Your market shows on each of those dates in the calendar without you re-listing it.
List the market, not each stall
A market is one event. Stallholders are welcome to mention the market in their own events, but the market page is the one people save and share.
Set the hours people need
Opening and closing time. If entry is free, say so: free events are shown on the free things to do page, which is one of the most visited on the site.
Photos that work
A landscape photo of the market in full swing, not a logo. Stalls, people and produce do better than a poster with text on it.
Where Your Market Appears
Markets sit in the Markets in Melbourne category, on the this weekend page when they fall on a Saturday or Sunday, on the page for the suburb, and in the dated calendar for every date you set. Family-friendly markets also appear on Melbourne with kids.
Every event page carries Event structured data for Google's event results. Google decides what it shows, and only events at a physical venue are eligible.
What You'll Need
- The market's name and what people will find there
- A landscape photo (JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 5 MB)
- The day, hours and how often it runs
- The venue or site, address and suburb
- Entry price, or free
- A website or ticket link if there is one
- Your name and email (never shown publicly)
Want More People To See It?
The listing is free and stays free. For a seasonal market or a big one-off, a paid upgrade puts it first on the weekend pages and into the newsletter in the week it runs. Featured starts at $15; a place in Melbourne This Week reaches 25,000 readers. See every option and price →
Questions Answered
Can I list a market that runs every week?
Yes. That is what the recurring option is for. Tourism listings through ATDW exclude weekly and monthly events; this site does not.
Do you list markets outside the city?
Yes, anywhere in Melbourne's suburbs or elsewhere in Victoria.
Can stallholders list their stall?
A stall on its own is not an event. If a stallholder runs a workshop or demonstration at the market with its own time, that can be listed as an event.
What if a date is cancelled for weather?
From your dashboard, mark the date postponed or cancelled. The listing updates straight away and the Event data tells Google too.
When will it appear?
A complete listing that passes our automatic checks is published when you submit. Anything else is checked by our editor within one business day.
