Key Projects in Victoria and Tasmania

PYBAR, an underground metals mining specialist and part of the Thiess company, has secured three significant contracts across gold and critical minerals projects in Australia. These include new awards at the Sunday Creek Gold-Antimony Project and Fosterville Gold Mine in Victoria, along with a contract extension at the Rosebery Polymetallic Base Metal Mine in Tasmania.

James Glover, PYBAR General Manager, expressed pride in collaborating with leading mining companies to deliver high-quality and value-driven execution plans for key Australian operations in precious and critical minerals. He stated, “These projects reflect our strength in technically complex underground environments and our ability to mobilise quickly and deliver safely.”

The Sunday Creek Gold-Antimony Project, located 60km north of Melbourne, will see PYBAR deliver the underground decline (tunnel) for Southern Cross Gold Consolidated Ltd. The scope includes box cut ground support, portal establishment, primary decline and support services, as well as lateral development, including diamond drilling platforms.

Fosterville and Rosebery Projects

At the Fosterville Gold Mine near Bendigo, PYBAR has been engaged by Agnico Eagle to provide raise boring and shaft lining services. The project involves the excavation and lining of a 374-metre-deep, 5.5-metre diameter raise bore shaft, crucial for the mine’s ventilation upgrade.

In Tasmania, PYBAR has extended its shotcrete and cement rockfill contract at MMG’s Rosebery Mine for another two years. The original three-year contract achieved positive safety outcomes without any recordable injuries.

The contracts reflect PYBAR’s growing role in enabling Australia’s underground and critical minerals sector, enhancing the Thiess Group’s expanding portfolio across a diverse and high-value commodity mix. The Sunday Creek project supports Victoria’s critical minerals pipeline, while the Fosterville project facilitates the next phase of expansion and sustainability. Meanwhile, the Rosebery extension continues a successful partnership, showcasing PYBAR’s ability to deliver safely and reliably.
