Sydney Showground hosts the festival on 22nd and 23rd August 2026

Sydney Dog Lovers Festival will return to Sydney Showground on Saturday 22nd August 2026 and Sunday 23rd August 2026. Organisers describe it as New South Wales’ biggest celebration of dogs.

Gates will open from 9:30am to 5pm on both days. Each ticket also includes free entry to the Cat Lovers Festival on the same weekend.

Visitors can meet hundreds of dogs across dozens of breeds during the two-day event. Families, dog owners and people thinking about getting a dog are all part of the target crowd.

Hundreds of dog brands will sell treats, toys, accessories, tech and other products at Sydney Showground. Festival specials and featured products will only be available on site.

VitaPet Arena and DockDogs

Kurgo DockDogs will bring pool-diving competition to the festival splash zone. Crowds will be able to watch dogs launch into the water across both days.

Meanwhile, the VitaPet Arena will stage live dog sports and demonstrations. Organisers say the line-up will feature some of Australia’s most talented canine stars.

Pat-A-Pooch sessions will give visitors time with dogs during the festival. Breed Showcase areas will also let people meet breed clubs in one place.

Adoption Zones will include adoption organisations and dogs looking for forever homes. As a result, visitors can speak directly with rescue and rehoming groups.

Food trucks will operate on 22nd August 2026 and 23rd August 2026 to serve visitors throughout the day. However, organisers state there is no BYO dogs policy for the event.
