The Windsor favourite is set to open in late spring 2026, with share plates to start and DJs keeping the night going.
Lucky Coq is becoming Lucky’s, with plans to reimagine the Chapel Street nightlife fixture as a restaurant, bar and music venue later this spring.
Morris Hospitality is reshaping the corner of Chapel and High Streets around a simple idea: dinner first, DJs later. Shareable food will anchor the dining offering, before the venue changes pace as the evening unfolds.
A six o’clock dinner could become a midnight finish. That is the thinking behind a space designed to take guests from the table to drinks and into the music, without needing to find the next stop.

A familiar corner gets a fresh identity
For almost 20 years, Lucky Coq has been associated with late-night drinks, packed dancefloors and nights out on Chapel Street. The new name comes with a different direction, although Morris Hospitality intends to retain the familiarity and energy of the original venue.
Morris Hospitality Head of Marketing and Sales Grace Dorman said the site’s history would inform the project without defining everything it becomes.
“Melburnians know this corner and so many people have their own Lucky Coq story. It has been part of Chapel Street nightlife for almost 20 years, so we wanted to acknowledge that history without simply recreating it,” Dorman said.
The plans also cater for people whose evening ends before the DJ set. Dinner with friends and a few drinks at the bar are just as much part of the concept, with the operator aiming to make Lucky’s a regular local as well as a late-night destination.
“We want it to have the energy of a great night out, but also the familiarity and accessibility of a great local – somewhere you can come back to again and again.”
