Cronulla Memory Walk & Jog Promotes Brain Health

Community Gathers for a Cause in Cronulla

SYDNEY — The Cronulla Memory Walk & Jog is set to take place this Sunday, March 1, at Don Lucas Reserve, according to organisers. The event aims to promote brain health and support individuals living with dementia.

The event will begin at 7:30 am, inviting the community to walk, jog, or run while raising funds for dementia support, as confirmed by Dementia Australia. MC Tully Smyth will host the event, which promises a family-friendly atmosphere.

More than 670 participants have already registered, with organisers encouraging more to sign up either online or on the day. Dementia Australia, the event organiser, states, “Get active and beat dementia by participating in Memory Walk & Jog.”

Event Details and Participation

Those unable to attend the Cronulla event can organise their own Memory Walk & Jog through the MyWay initiative, choosing their own date and location, Dementia Australia suggested. Registration details are available on their website.

Dementia Australia provides crucial support and resources to more than 446,500 Australians living with dementia and their families, advocating for positive change and supporting research. Teresa Cong, Senior Media & Communications Advisor, is available for media inquiries about the event.

The Cronulla Memory Walk & Jog is not just an event but a movement that raises awareness about dementia, which affects millions worldwide. Participants will have access to informational booths where they can learn more about dementia prevention and management. The event will also feature local vendors offering food and drinks, ensuring a festive atmosphere for all attendees. Live entertainment from local bands will add to the excitement, making it a day to remember for the whole family.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to highlight the importance of maintaining brain health through physical activity and community involvement. By coming together for this cause, participants are not only supporting those affected by dementia but are also promoting a healthier lifestyle for themselves. The event serves as a reminder that community support is vital in the fight against dementia, and every step taken during the walk or jog contributes to a larger cause. Organisers are optimistic that this year’s event will surpass previous attendance records, fostering a stronger community spirit and greater awareness of dementia-related issues.
