Laverton Community Hub always feels like a neighbourhood living room, and on Dashain Festival day it fills with colour, laughter and families from across the west. Expect a welcoming buzz, with community elders chatting on benches, little ones darting between games and the air thick with the smell of home-cooked Nepalese food. The kite flying out on the green is a highlight, weather permitting, and there’s a real sense of everyone pitching in to celebrate together. It’s perfect for families or anyone curious about Nepalese traditions. Unlike bigger city festivals, this one is cosy and genuinely community-led, so you’re likely to leave with a few new friends. The free entry and food make it especially accessible, and the whole event is built around sharing culture rather than selling it.
