Melbourne's Latin music scene is passionate and tightly knit, and when a big name like Maelo Ruiz comes to town, the atmosphere is electric. Expect a crowd that knows every lyric and isn't shy about showing off their dance moves, making for a contagious energy whether you're on the floor or just watching. The venue is yet to be announced, but previous events have landed at well-located city clubs that know how to host a proper party-think great sound, late hours and a mix of locals and expats. This is best for die-hard salsa fans and anyone keen to experience Latin American music culture in Melbourne. It's rare to catch a major salsa act here, especially one with such a devoted following, so if you’re after an authentic night with real community spirit, this will stand out from the usual Friday gig circuit.

Insider tip

Wear comfortable shoes-there's plenty of dancing at these late-night salsa gigs.
