Event details from Box Hill Institute

Celebrate circular fashion with upcycled designs, student talent, pre-loved fashion and creative workshops.

The Living Wardrobe is an interactive celebration of circular fashion, creativity, and extending the life of what we wear. Explore upcycled fashion, discover emerging student talent, swap or shop for pre-loved pieces, and get hands-on through creative workshops focused on reworking, repairing and transforming fashion products.

With support from industry, The Living Wardrobe brings circular fashion to life through practical experiences, creativity and education. Seamless joins the event as an activation partner, sharing insights into how young consumers can make more sustainable and informed fashion choices.

Supré, Mitch Dowd and Sussan Group are also supporting the event by contributing industry deadstock, clothing and product for educational and creative purposes, giving these resources another life and demonstrating the possibilities of reuse and upcycling.

Tucked amid the laneway bustle, The Living Wardrobe feels less like a formal show and more like a studio open day, where you can chat with student designers and actually try your hand at reworking garments. The venue at 253 Flinders Ln is a short stroll from Degraves Street and has a relaxed, come-and-go atmosphere that makes it easy to drop in for an hour or settle in for a whole morning of mending and swapping. Locals love it because you get to see what’s next in Melbourne fashion-straight from the makers, not just the runways. If you’re keen to cut down on fast fashion or just want inspiration for breathing new life into your wardrobe, this event is spot-on. It's especially good for anyone curious about sustainable style but not sure where to start-there’s no pressure, just lots of friendly advice and practical ideas you can actually use. Unlike some fashion events that feel exclusive, this one genuinely welcomes all.

Insider tip
