HONG KONG — The Hong Kong Mega 8 series has unveiled a dynamic lineup of international sports events, set to take place this March and April. As part of the initiative, the city will host esteemed competitions in rugby, horse racing, and cycling, drawing global attention to its vibrant sports culture.

The series features the Hong Kong Sevens, Hong Kong Derby, Champions Day, and the 2026 UCI Track World Cup. According to event organizers, these events aim to showcase Hong Kong’s energetic and international appeal, with top athletes and enthusiastic fans gathering for the celebrations.

Iconic Events Highlight the Lineup

The Hong Kong Sevens, scheduled for April 17-19 at Kai Tak Stadium, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The tournament will feature 72 rugby matches and live entertainment, with rugby legends and music icons expected to enhance the festive atmosphere.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong Derby at Sha Tin Racecourse on March 22 is anticipated to be a highlight of the city’s horse racing calendar. The Derby, with a prize pool of HK$52 million, marks the conclusion of the Four-Year-Old Classic Series.

The 2026 UCI Track World Cup will see elite cyclists compete at the Hong Kong Velodrome from April 17-19. The event will attract nearly 400 cyclists from around 40 countries, offering a thrilling showcase of speed and strategy.

Champions Day on April 26 also promises world-class racing at Sha Tin Racecourse, bringing together top jockeys and horses for three elite Group 1 races.

The announcement of these events comes as Hong Kong continues to bolster its reputation as a premier destination for international sports and cultural events.
