VR Experience Offers Unique Insights into Ancient Wonders
BRISBANE — Horizon of Khufu, an immersive virtual reality experience that transports visitors to Ancient Egypt, has launched in Brisbane, according to Excurio and Fever. Opening at Fever Hub Brisbane on March 27, 2026, the event allows participants to explore the Great Pyramids without leaving the city.
Tickets for the experience, described as meticulously researched and free-roaming, are now available. Guests will be guided through Ancient Egypt by a virtual host, gaining exclusive access to areas typically restricted to the public. The experience includes a sunrise flight over the Giza Necropolis and a boat journey along the Nile during King Khufu’s funeral procession.
Global Success and Local Launch
Originally introduced in Paris in 2022, Horizon of Khufu has toured the UK, US, China, and Canada, attracting over a million visitors. The experience, curated with the help of Egyptologist Peter Der Manuelian, uses verified data to authentically recreate the pyramids and surrounding sites, providing a realistic dive into history.
“With Immersive expeditions, we aim to make time travel a reality,” said Fabien Barati, CEO of Excurio. “Horizon of Khufu has been extremely well received globally.” Phil Mallet from Fever added, “We are thrilled to work with Excurio to bring this experience to Brisbane, aligning with our mission to democratise culture and entertainment.”
The launch in Brisbane is part of a growing trend in virtual reality experiences, which have gained popularity for their ability to offer cultural and historical insights in an engaging format. Participants can look forward to a 45-minute journey with life-sized avatars, interacting with others in a shared space.
