Inquiry Timeline and Witness Schedule
On Monday, 22nd June 2026, the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) will commence a public inquiry into serious allegations involving staff at the University of Wollongong. This inquiry, part of the broader Operation Scandi, will begin at 10:00 am in the ICAC Hearing Room at Level 7, 255 Elizabeth Street, Sydney. Commissioner Paul Lakatos SC will preside over the proceedings, with Emma Bathurst as Counsel Assisting the Commission. The inquiry is scheduled to run for three weeks.
Public and media attendees can follow the inquiry via a live stream on the ICAC website. Exhibits, transcripts, and witness lists will be available online unless restricted by non-publication orders. Before the inquiry starts, a short media briefing will be held at 9:30 am to address logistical matters. The witness schedule for the first week is extensive: Lucinda Wright will testify on both Monday and Tuesday. Brenden Hooke and Pei Shan Stacy Oon will appear on Tuesday, while Matthew Dawkins and Stacy Oon will testify on Wednesday. Emma Pinfold and Kayla Powell are scheduled for Thursday, followed by Sean Brawley and Alison Bourke on Friday.
Commissioner Lakatos has emphasised the critical nature of this inquiry, stating, “This process is pivotal in ensuring that any allegations of misconduct are thoroughly examined.” He reiterated the inquiry’s role in upholding the integrity of educational institutions.
