Experience Requirements Hinder Job Entry

Bitget, the world’s largest Universal Exchange, released its Web3 Next-Gen Talent Intelligence Report on June 19, 2026. The report highlights significant hiring challenges faced by aspiring Web3 professionals.

More than 54% of respondents identified prior experience requirements for junior roles as the biggest obstacle to entering the industry. 52% reported that their education provided theoretical knowledge but lacked practical, job-ready skills. These findings suggest a disconnect between education and employment in the rapidly evolving Web3 sector.

According to Gracy Chen, CEO at Bitget, “The findings show there is a large pool of motivated and educated candidates, but many are struggling to take the first step into the industry.” The report suggests that addressing these barriers is crucial for industry growth.

Global Talent and Emerging Markets

Emerging markets play a vital role in shaping the future of the Web3 workforce. Countries like Nigeria, Indonesia, and China accounted for nearly half of all survey participants, showcasing the expanding reach of blockchain education beyond traditional technology hubs. This shift indicates a growing interest in blockchain careers worldwide.

The survey revealed that 46% of respondents were aged between 23 and 30, while over 58% held Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degrees. This data highlights a highly educated pool of candidates eager to enter the Web3 industry.

Interest in AI and blockchain convergence is high, with 61% of respondents selecting it as their most desired career path. Despite this enthusiasm, 62% identified a lack of mentorship as a significant barrier to career advancement. Practical industry exposure and mentorship from experienced professionals are crucial to accelerating career development.

Bitget’s Blockchain4Youth initiative continues to expand globally, aiming to bridge the gap between education and employment. The initiative’s Learning Hub, which combines blockchain fundamentals with practical industry exposure, recently surpassed 10,000 registered learners worldwide. This achievement underscores the importance of structured learning pathways.

The report concludes that closing the gap between education and employment will be critical for the next phase of industry growth. As the Web3 sector evolves, collaboration between educational institutions, employers, and industry players is essential to enhance workforce participation and meet industry demand. The expansion of programmes like Blockchain4Youth is a step towards achieving this goal.
