Enhanced Performance with PCIe 5.0 Technology

Kioxia Corporation unveiled its latest high-performance solid state drives, the KIOXIA XG10 Series, targeting PC OEMs. Announced on 14th May, these SSDs leverage PCIe 5.0 technology to boost speed and responsiveness for data-intensive applications. This new series is designed as the successor to the XG8 Series, offering significant improvements.

Thanks to PCIe 5.0, the XG10 Series delivers up to double the sequential read and write speeds compared to its predecessors. Random read performance improves by approximately 122 per cent, while random write performance increases by 158 per cent. These enhancements provide faster data access and improved system responsiveness.

The XG10 Series features sequential read speeds of up to 14,000 MB/s and write speeds reaching 12,000 MB/s. This supports high-throughput performance essential for AI training, content creation, and gaming. Random read performance reaches up to 2,000 KIOPS, with random write performance up to 1,600 KIOPS.

Key Features and Specifications

The XG10 Series is PCIe 5.0 (Gen5 x4) and NVMe 2.0d compliant, featuring Self-Encrypting Drive support via TCG Opal 2.02. Available capacities include 512 GB, 1024 GB, 2048 GB, and 4096 GB. The 2048 GB and 4096 GB models utilise advanced BiCS FLASH generation 8 TLC-based flash memory, enhancing their performance and reliability.

Engineered to meet the needs of high-performance client systems, these SSDs are ideal for professional applications, private AI training, content creation, and immersive gaming experiences. Their design supports modern computing demands with high-throughput performance.

The XG10 Series is currently sampling to select PC OEM customers. Shipments are expected to commence in the second quarter of 2026. Kioxia’s ongoing commitment to high-performance solutions continues to advance innovation in storage technology.

Kioxia’s definition of SSD capacity highlights that a kilobyte is 1,000 bytes, a megabyte is 1,000,000 bytes, and a gigabyte is 1,000,000,000 bytes. However, computer operating systems report storage using powers of 2, leading to different capacity readings.

Additional features of the XG10 Series include support for modern computing platforms such as AI PCs, workstations, and gaming systems. The SSDs are available in the M.2 Type 2280 form factor, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of devices. These drives are designed to handle the most demanding workloads, making them suitable for both personal and professional environments.

Kioxia Corporation is a leading company in the storage industry, with a history of innovation in SSD technology. The release of the XG10 Series marks another milestone in their commitment to providing cutting-edge storage solutions. As the demand for faster and more reliable data storage grows, Kioxia continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in SSD performance.
