Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth Integration for IoT

Quectel Wireless Solutions has introduced the FCM365X, a new module combining Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth LE 5.4, Zigbee, and Thread technologies, aimed at enhancing smart home and industrial IoT applications.

It integrates 1.2MB of SRAM and 8MB of Flash memory, with optional PSRAM expansion.

The module’s support for interoperable standards like Thread and Zigbee is crucial for enabling low-power, reliable mesh networking in evolving IoT ecosystems. These protocols facilitate device communication across diverse environments.

Compact Design and Enhanced Security

Designed for power-constrained uses, the FCM365X offers several low-power modes and keep-alive mechanisms. It supports GPIO, SDIO, UART, USB, and JTAG interfaces, with additional interfaces available through the QuecOpen solution.

Lazaros Kapsias, EMEA Product Manager at Quectel, commented on the module’s versatility, stating, “We see the FCM365X helping to meet needs in the smart home ecosystem and in industrial scenarios.”

The module is equipped with a 1×1 antenna supporting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands. It also features an RF coaxial connector and PCB antenna option, ensuring flexibility in design while maintaining compact dimensions of 25.5mm x 18.0mm x 3.16mm.

Weighing only 1.51g, the FCM365X operates within a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, making it robust for various environmental conditions. It complies with WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, and WPA3-SAE security standards, supporting AES-128 encryption.

Interoperable standards such as Zigbee and Thread enable the FCM365X to support low-power mesh networking. This feature is essential as smart home and industrial IoT ecosystems evolve. The module’s integration of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE, Zigbee, and Thread provides developers with the flexibility to address multiple connectivity requirements.

As smart home and industrial IoT ecosystems continue to grow, the demand for compact, low power devices increases. The FCM365X meets these demands by offering secure, short-range connectivity, making it ideal for various applications.
