SPC Global Reshapes Manufacturing Strategy

Company aims for efficiency and growth with new plan

MELBOURNE — SPC Global has unveiled a strategy to overhaul its manufacturing operations, a move that will generate more than $8 million in annual savings. The company announced it will close its Mill Park facility by August 2026, transitioning to a demand-led model that aligns production with market needs.

According to SPC Global, this strategic shift involves relocating the production of its high-growth Juice Lab Wellness Shots to its Shepparton facility, which is currently experiencing a 60% year-on-year growth. The move is expected to enhance efficiency and support expansion into new markets.

Impact on Operations and Industry Context

SPC Global Managing Director Robert Iervasi stated, “By deploying capital more efficiently and backing our strongest growth brands, we are accelerating international expansion and continuing to invest in Australian manufacturing.” In addition, the company has partnered with Fair Dinkum Foods in Griffith, NSW, to produce Original Juice Co. products, aiming to extend juice shelf life and improve supply chain efficiency.

The announcement follows a broader trend in the manufacturing sector towards more sustainable and efficient operations. By relocating production closer to agricultural sources, SPC Global aims to reduce its environmental impact and operational costs.

Beyond financial savings, the new strategy is expected to have a significant impact on local employment as well. While the closure of the Mill Park facility may result in job losses, SPC Global plans to offer relocation opportunities and severance packages for affected employees. The company also emphasizes its commitment to sustainability by reducing energy consumption and waste, aligning with national environmental goals. By consolidating operations, SPC Global hopes to create a more resilient supply chain that can better withstand global disruptions.

Industry analysts suggest SPC Global’s strategy could set a precedent for other companies facing similar challenges. As businesses navigate the complexities of a post-pandemic world, the focus on efficiency and sustainability becomes increasingly vital. SPC Global’s approach illustrates a proactive response to changing market conditions, positioning the company as a leader in innovative manufacturing practices.
