Workshops to Enhance Skills in Respiratory Medicine

PERTH — The Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZSRS) has announced a full day of respiratory workshops to be held on March 27, 2026, at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. Aimed at strengthening the capabilities of the respiratory workforce, these workshops form part of the TSANZSRS Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) 2026.

According to TSANZSRS, the workshops are designed to address growing workforce pressures and clinical complexities in the field of respiratory medicine. They will offer sessions on a variety of topics, including Interstitial Lung Disease, Bronchiectasis, and Pulmonary embolism management, with a focus on practical skills and clinical decision-making.

TSANZSRS confirmed that the programme will feature both full-day and half-day sessions, catering to clinicians, researchers, and allied health professionals. Morning sessions will cover lung nodule management and updates on tuberculosis, while afternoon sessions will focus on complex symptom management and evidence-based nicotine cessation strategies.

Comprehensive Training Sessions

The workshops will be led by senior respiratory physicians and allied health professionals, providing opportunities for interaction and mentoring. Topics such as exercise-induced breathlessness and chronic breathlessness management will be explored through masterclasses that incorporate live demonstrations and multidisciplinary discussions.

This initiative comes at a time when the demand for skilled respiratory professionals is increasing, particularly in light of new programmes like the Australian National Lung Cancer Screening Program. By integrating education with clinical practice, TSANZSRS aims to enhance the quality of care provided by the next generation of respiratory specialists.

Further details regarding registration and workshop participation are available on the TSANZSRS ASM website.
