Experts and Artists Converge on AI's Impact
SYDNEY — The AI debate will be the focus of a significant event at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) on Friday, 24 April 2026. The event, titled ‘AI: Breakthrough or Breaking Point?’, is a collaborative initiative with UNSW’s Centre for Ideas and promises to bring together leading minds to discuss the potential and pitfalls of artificial intelligence.

Dr. Sue Keay, Director of the UNSW AI Institute, will host short talks featuring various experts. Among the speakers are UNSW Professor Joel Pearson, discussing intuition and AI, and Dr. Karaitiana Taiuru, addressing Māori data sovereignty. Professor Angie Abdilla will contribute insights on cultural governance in AI.
The MCA, located on Warrane, Sydney Harbour, is renowned for exhibiting contemporary art from Australia and beyond.
