American Psycho The Musical will return to Melbourne from 29th October 2026 following its sell-out 2025 season.
The production will play at Chapel Off Chapel in Prahran before opening at Brisbane Powerhouse on 5th February 2027.
Conor Beaumont, whose theatre credits include Heathers the Musical, will reprise the lead role of Patrick Bateman.
Set in late-1980s Manhattan, the musical follows Bateman, a wealthy investment banker whose polished corporate life masks a far more sinister side. The production examines capitalism, consumerism, privilege and excess through its depiction of the character’s increasingly violent world.
Its score features music and lyrics by Grammy and Tony Award winner Duncan Sheik, alongside songs from Phil Collins, Tears for Fears, New Order and Huey Lewis and the News. The book was written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
Full cast announced for Melbourne and Brisbane
Mia Dabkowski-Chandler will play Evelyn Williams, with Alexandra Cashmere appearing as the alternate Evelyn Williams.
The cast also includes Montana Sharp as Jean, Harley Dasey as Paul Owen, Jake Ameduri as Tim Price and the Patrick Bateman cover, Meg Williams as Courtney Lawrence, Jordan Twigg as Mrs Bateman and Aaron Robuck as Luis Carruthers.
Dan Ham will play Craig McDermott and serve as associate choreographer, while Elaina Bianchi will appear as Vanden and work as dance captain. Lauchlan Mant will play David Van Patten, with Nelana Ferguson and Bash Nelson joining as swings.
Mark Taylor will return to direct the production after overseeing its 2025 Melbourne premiere.
“With the world events currently playing out around us, the American Psycho story – where Donald Trump is Patrick Bateman’s idol – feels more eerily relevant than ever,” Taylor said.
“Applying a 2026 lens to the show, we’re holding up a mirror to our audience and the warped idea of what status, success and masculinity should look like, and can’t wait for Australian audiences to come along for the ride.”
