Host Broadcasts and Imagery Access

On Saturday, 25th April 2026, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) along with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) will provide host broadcasts of the ANZAC Day Dawn Services from Gallipoli in Türkiye and Villers-Bretonneux in France. These services honour the sacrifices made by soldiers during World War I.

The Gallipoli Dawn Service is scheduled to begin at 12:30 AEST, with the Villers-Bretonneux service following at 13:30 AEST. Both broadcasts are presented as clean feeds, meaning they will not include narration, graphics, or watermarks, ensuring an unadulterated viewing experience.

The radio broadcast for the Gallipoli service features branded audio segments before and after the main events. Broadcasters will receive an ‘in cue’ of 15 seconds of sound effects before the service starts, and an ‘out cue’ as the catafalque party dismounts, transitioning to sound effects for 10 seconds.

Likewise, the Villers-Bretonneux Dawn Service radio feed will include an ‘in cue’ and ‘out cue’, with the latter taking place after the wreath-laying ceremony. For international viewers, the French Address during this service will have English subtitles.

Accessing the Broadcast Feeds

Accredited media outlets can access the television and radio feeds free of charge. To ensure participation, pre-bookings for the Gallipoli feed are necessary and can be arranged through ABC BOPS Bookings via email or phone. The transmission will utilise the Eutelsat satellite, first sending the feed to London and then relaying it to Sydney.

The Villers-Bretonneux service has similar satellite transmission arrangements. Broadcasters are provided with technical details required for satellite downlink, ensuring seamless access to the live coverage.

High-resolution still images from both Gallipoli and Villers-Bretonneux will be available for download via Defence images. The DVA also offers media backgrounders and other supportive materials on their website to assist in comprehensive event coverage.

ANZAC Day holds significant historical importance. These broadcasts allow people around the world to engage in the remembrance of the ANZAC spirit and the sacrifices made during the Gallipoli campaign. The commemoration at Villers-Bretonneux also acknowledges the pivotal battles fought on the Western Front.

The Australian Government‘s involvement ensures that the event is accessible globally, highlighting the ongoing legacy of those who served. The remembrance ceremonies provide an opportunity for reflection and are a testament to the enduring bonds between Australia, New Zealand, and their allies.
