Enrolments and jobs ended on 25 August 2026
Avondale Heights Childcare & Early Learning Centre closed on 25 August 2026 after SSB Advisory was appointed liquidator to Belotte Pty Ltd, the company that traded as the centre.
Parents and guardians were told on 25 August that their children’s enrolments would cease at the close of business that Tuesday. Centre employees were also notified on 25 August that their employment would end at the close of business the same day.
SSB Advisory said the directors decided to close the centre because of its financial position and concerns about continuity of care.
Glenn Spooner of SSB Advisory said recent staff resignations added to the problem. “Unfortunately, given the circumstances, and a number of recent staff resignations, the directors were not confident that appropriate staffing levels and continuity of care could be maintained and therefore determined that the centre should close immediately,” he said.
Failed sale followed funding strain
Before the closure, families and staff had been made aware that the centre was being offered for sale. A contract of sale for the business had been entered into. However, the intended purchaser was unable to settle the transaction.
That failed sale came after an extended period in which the directors had personally funded the business. Spooner said they could no longer keep supporting the operation with their own money.
“At the same time, the financial pressures facing the centre had reached a point that could no longer be sustained,” Spooner said.
SSB Advisory said the centre closed immediately because the directors were not confident they could maintain appropriate staffing levels and continuity of care after the recent resignations.
The statement did not disclose how many children were enrolled, how many staff lost their jobs, how long the directors had personally funded the business, or whether another buyer is being sought.
SSB Advisory also did not say how much money Belotte Pty Ltd owed creditors or when liquidators would provide a further update to families, staff or creditors.
