OpenAI Listing Marks Major AI Investment
Bitget, the world’s largest Universal Exchange (UEX), has announced the addition of OpenAI to its IPO Prime platform. This provides pre-IPO access to a leading company in artificial intelligence, tapping into a $4 trillion AI market opportunity.
The listing, named preOPAI, is issued via Solana by Bitget’s regulated partner, Republic. It is designed to track OpenAI’s economic performance and allows participation starting at $100, a low entry point for pre-IPO investors.
The commitment window for preOPAI opened on May 12 and closed on May 15, 2026, with allocations distributed shortly thereafter. Spot trading for preOPAI commenced at 14:00 UTC on the closing day.
New Pre-IPO Model Introduced
PreOPAI differs from traditional pre-IPO models by allowing active trading of positions, offering liquidity and flexibility. About six months after OpenAI’s IPO, holders can redeem tokens for stock-linked assets or USDT, based on market conditions.
This launch follows the earlier listing of preSPAX, related to SpaceX, as part of Bitget’s phased expansion of IPO Prime. PreSPAX saw significant interest, with over 13,000 users and $171 million in commitments.
Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget, noted the shift in market access, “The way people access markets is changing. We’re moving toward a system where different asset classes and opportunities come together on one platform.”
The introduction of preOPAI focuses on a structured model that emphasises liquidity and regulatory alignment. Bitget, through its Universal Exchange model, aims to integrate crypto, tokenized traditional assets, and pre-IPO exposure into a single platform, enhancing how users allocate capital across various investment opportunities.
Global interest in artificial intelligence continues to surge, with capital flowing into AI companies and valuations reaching historic levels. Bitget’s initiative provides retail investors access to opportunities previously limited to institutional players.
Bitget’s IPO Prime platform is evolving to support how users allocate capital across different asset classes. By offering a low entry threshold and the ability to trade positions before a public listing, Bitget is reshaping pre-IPO investment dynamics.
The platform’s structure allows digital assets to reflect economic outcomes rather than direct equity ownership. This aims to establish a more structured foundation for tokenized pre-IPO exposure compared to typical token launch models.
