On April 8, 2026, the company announced a strategic growth investment from Lime Rock New Energy (LRNE). This investment aims to accelerate Boulder Imaging’s global expansion and enhance product innovation.
Carlos Jorquera, Founder and CEO of Boulder Imaging, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Lime Rock New Energy is the ideal partner to support the next chapter of our growth.” The investment from LRNE will enable Boulder Imaging to explore new markets and industry verticals, strengthening its competitive position. Although financial terms were not disclosed, the partnership is expected to yield significant growth opportunities.
Their flagship product, the IdentiFlight system, combines AI and long-range optics to identify protected bird species at wind farms. This technology has significantly reduced bird fatalities by over 95% while minimizing energy losses to less than 1%. With hundreds of IdentiFlight stations deployed across six continents, Boulder Imaging leads in AI-powered avian detection and protection for wind energy.
Mark Lewis, Managing Director at Lime Rock New Energy, highlighted the importance of Boulder Imaging’s technologies in addressing challenges within the wind energy sector. He emphasised the accelerating market need for solutions like IdentiFlight.
Boulder Imaging’s Vision Inspector platform leverages ultra-high speed algorithms, artificial intelligence, and sensor fusion to tackle complex inspection challenges across various industries, including architectural products, security paper, and banknotes. This platform is crucial in solving intricate visual inspection challenges.
The current leadership team, including President and COO Don Mills, will continue to guide Boulder Imaging. Key members of management, including Jorquera and Mills, will retain meaningful ownership in the company.
