One-hour takeover will run from 3pm to 4pm on 26 August 2026
Coles will play Dolly Parton songs in stores across Australia from 3pm to 4pm on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, after her passing was confirmed on Wednesday morning.
The supermarket chain will use Coles Radio for a one-hour tribute in all Coles stores nationwide. Customers will also be able to hear the same programming on Coles Radio through DAB and the Nova Player.
Coles framed the event as a celebration of Parton’s music and career. The company said the in-store playlist would focus on her greatest hits during the hour-long takeover.
Martin Smithson, Coles Executive General Manager Supermarket Operations, said: “There was only one Dolly Parton. Her music brought joy to generations of fans, so to honour her today we’re turning up the volume and celebrating an extraordinary entertainer.”
Smithson added that Coles was inviting customers and team members to enjoy songs including “9 to 5” and “Jolene” during the special hour.
Stores nationwide join 3pm tribute
The tribute is scheduled to start at 3pm and finish at 4pm on 26 August 2026. It will run in Coles stores nationally and on Coles Radio at the same time.
According to Coles, shoppers can hear the music while picking up dinner or other essentials, while staff working during the hour will also hear the tribute in store.
Meanwhile, people who are not inside a store can tune in through digital radio or the Nova Player. Coles said Coles Radio is available on digital radio as well as the app-based service.
Coles also cited GFK Survey #4 cumulative audience data for Mon-Sun, 5.30am-12 midnight, in describing Coles Radio as Australia’s favourite digital radio station.
The company did not give further programming details beyond the one-hour window, the nationwide store rollout and the listening options through DAB and Nova Player.
