40 MW Facility to Enhance AI Infrastructure
In a groundbreaking move, Digi Power X Inc. has announced a pivotal Master Services Agreement with Cerebras Systems. This collaboration is set to develop a 40 MW AI data centre campus located in Columbiana, Alabama. The agreement stands at an impressive $1.1 billion for an initial 10-year term, with potential total value reaching $2.5 billion, including renewal terms.
By securing this contract, Digi Power X ensures long-term revenue streams while Cerebras Systems gains guaranteed data centre capacity from day one. The development will proceed in two phases: Phase 1 will deliver 15 MW of IT load, and Phase 2 will add another 25 MW, culminating in a total of 40 MW.
Michel Amar, Chairman and CEO of Digi Power X, highlighted the significance of this agreement. He remarked, “Signing a $1.1 billion anchor contract with a premier AI compute company is validation of everything we have built.”
Immediate Construction and Deployment Plans
Construction activities are slated to begin immediately, with the first phase expected to be operational by December 15, 2026. Full deployment is anticipated by the end of Q1 2027. The location was chosen for its robust power infrastructure, favorable regulatory environment, and access to major fibre corridors in the southeastern United States.
Ownership of the Columbiana campus property by Digi Power X offers a balance-sheet-backed development platform, setting it apart from competitors reliant on leases. A dedicated on-site substation for Phase 1 is already completed, with grid interconnection finalised and a power delivery agreement secured with Alabama Power. This arrangement minimises typical development risks associated with large-scale data centre projects.
Built to Tier III infrastructure standards, the facility is optimised for the high-density thermal requirements of next-generation AI accelerator hardware. Digi Power X’s vertically integrated portfolio also includes sites in Alabama, New York, and North Carolina, securing approximately 400 MW of power across its locations.
Digi Power X’s NeoCloudz platform enhances its GPU-as-a-Service offerings on NVIDIA infrastructure, bolstering its capabilities in the AI data centre sector. This agreement is a significant milestone in the company’s growth and commitment to leading in AI infrastructure.
