Committee probing 2025 federal election to hear from two groups

The Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters will hear from Plymouth Brethren Christian Church and Advance at a public hearing on 21 August 2026.

The hearing forms part of the committee’s inquiry into the conduct of the 2025 federal election, including engagement by third parties during the campaign.

Committee chair Jerome Laxale MP said the inquiry is still gathering information about the 2025 vote and activity at polling booths.

“Transparency is one of the pillars of our democracy, and voters deserve to know who is involved in campaigning at our polling booths,” Mr Laxale said.

Laxale also thanked Plymouth Brethren Christian Church and Advance for confirming they will attend and provide evidence to the committee on 21 August 2026.

The programme for the hearing will be published on the committee’s public hearings webpage before the session.
