About this event

We rarely get to see a major Indian comedy voice bring their solo show to Melbourne’s leafy east, so Maya Krishnan’s Pomblel is a rare treat. Expect sharp humour and storytelling from a multi-talented performer who’s as quick-witted as she is thoughtful.

Event details from Marching Elephants Ent & The Laughter Factory

A Solo Stand-Up Special by Maya Krishnan.

Maya S. Krishnan is an actress, theatre artist, and improvisational comedian known for her effortless humor and engaging stage presence. With acclaimed performances in films like Vikram, Leo, and 2.0, along with a strong theatre background, she brings a unique blend of storytelling, wit, and audience interaction to every live show. Her energetic performances promise an unforgettable evening of laughter and entertainment.

She’s been on your screens, on your stages, and now she’s in your heads and she’s not leaving anytime soon.

Maya Krishnan, Koothu, folk artist, musician, theatre performer, actor, comedian, creator, brings you Pomblel; her debut solo stand-up special, and it’s everything you didnt know you needed.

At the heart of the show is Manjula Teacher; the character who took Tamil internet world by storm.

With Satire and unshakeable conviction, Manjula Teacher is ready for her kalachara class to set the record.

With over a decade of experience across theatre, film, and digital content, Maya Krishnan is no newcomer to the stage.

But Pomblel is something new entirely raw, personal, and outrageously funny.

Her first stand-up special. Long overdue.

Mount Waverley is more suburban tranquillity than comedy hotspot, but that’s part of the charm here: you’ll be watching Maya Krishnan in an intimate school theatre, away from the city’s usual comedy haunts. It’s a great chance to catch a fresh international act up close, with the crowd likely a friendly mix of locals and comedy fans crossing town for something special. This is perfect for anyone who craves clever, culture-rich stand-up, especially if you follow Indian film or theatre. Krishnan’s mix of acting, music and quick improv gives the night a creative edge you won’t find at most Melbourne comedy clubs.

Insider tip
Arrive early for the best seats, as school theatre seating is usually unallocated.
