HOYTS has unveiled the world’s largest LED cinema screen at its Karrinyup location in Perth, which opened on 6th May 2026. This new screen, known as HOYTS APEX, introduces a state-of-the-art viewing experience with its remarkable technology.
Measuring 24.9 metres in width and 10.8 metres in height, the screen boasts over 24 million pixels. These pixels deliver unprecedented clarity and detail, enhancing brightness and contrast compared to traditional projection methods. As a result, viewers enjoy a more vivid and immersive experience.

Advanced Audio-Visual Technology
Incorporating fully acoustically transparent LED panels, the HOYTS APEX screen allows sound to pass directly through for precise audio placement. Combined with Dolby Atmos surround sound, this technology ensures a seamless and lifelike audio-visual experience.
Adam Wrightson, IT Director of HOYTS Cinema Technology Group, emphasised the engineering behind HOYTS APEX by stating, “The LED screen is fully acoustically transparent, allowing sound to pass directly through the movie. This means audio is placed exactly where it should be, on screen.”
Ultra-thin LED panels and the capability for curved screens enhance the viewing experience by reducing edge distortion and ensuring consistent image quality from every seat in the auditorium.
