Major Tech Firms Collaborate on Patents
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has become the latest company to acquire a licence from the Sisvel Wi-Fi Multimode pool, aligning itself with tech giants like Sony Group Corporation, Huawei, and Panasonic. On April 8, 2026, HPE officially joined the programme, which is known for its efficient access to essential Wi-Fi rights.
Key Players in the Wi-Fi Multimode Pool
“We are delighted to welcome Hewlett Packard Enterprise as the latest licensee of the Sisvel Wi-Fi Multimode pool,” stated Meagan Leslie, Legal and Licensing Counsel at Sisvel. Her leadership in the negotiation process played a crucial role in reaching this agreement.
The Sisvel Wi-Fi Multimode pool, which is the successor to the Sisvel Wi-Fi 6 patent pool, includes significant licensors such as KPN, Mitsubishi Electric, Orange, Aegis 11 SA, SK Telecom, and Wilus. These licensors, along with licensees like Sony, Huawei, and ZTE, contribute to the programme’s robustness.
Covering both Wi-Fi 6 and the newer Wi-Fi 7 standards, the Multimode programme provides companies with a streamlined way to access critical Wi-Fi patents. This broad coverage ensures that participating companies are well-equipped to handle the evolving demands of wireless technology.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise is a major player in the global WLAN market, renowned for producing both consumer and enterprise routers. As a result of this agreement, HPE strengthens its position in the industry by securing access to essential Wi-Fi technologies.
The amicable nature of the agreement between HPE and Sisvel underscores the value of the Multimode pool. This collaboration reflects the professionalism of both parties and highlights the pool’s significance in providing long-term benefits to its licensees.
Heath Hoglund, Sisvel’s Chief IP Officer, expressed confidence in welcoming more companies to the programme in the near future. “HPE becoming a Wi-Fi Multimode pool licensee is a major validation for the programme,” he remarked, emphasizing the potential for future growth and collaboration.
Over a three-year span, the original Sisvel Wi-Fi 6 patent pool successfully closed agreements with nearly 40 companies, including industry leaders like Acer, Netgear, Cisco, and HP. This track record establishes a solid foundation for the Multimode pool’s ongoing expansion.
Sisvel, driven by a commitment to innovation and collaboration, aims to create a level playing field in the complex marketplace of patent licensing. Its flexible solutions are designed to meet the needs of patent owners and technology users alike.
