Good Nature Hotel takes over the former Beer Deluxe site ahead of the King’s Birthday long weekend
Good Nature Hotel will open at Federation Square on Thursday, 4th June 2026, taking over the former Beer Deluxe site with an all-weather pub, beer garden and family-friendly upstairs space.
The new venue opens ahead of the King’s Birthday long weekend, when AFL and Big Freeze crowds are expected to move through the city and towards the MCG. Good Nature has been designed as a city meeting point before and after major events, with live sport, pub dining, drinks, DJs, live music and face painters planned across the opening weekend.

The redesign gives the Federation Square site a greener and more open feel, with native-focused planting, green interiors, light timber, natural stone, brass, stainless steel and layered lighting used throughout the venue.
Venue Manager Ebony King said the aim was to create a relaxed city pub that could work across several occasions.
“Good Nature is about creating a place where people can come together, whether it’s for a casual lunch, after-work drinks, live sport, family outing or weekend celebration,” said King. “We wanted the venue to feel fresh and relaxed while still capturing the energy of Melbourne’s pub culture and Federation Square.”

Beer garden, pub dining and live sport lead the opening
The beer garden is one of the main changes to the former Beer Deluxe site. It now includes a permanent weather-protected area, a retractable awning, heating, umbrellas, and flexible seating, allowing the outdoor space to be used in different weather conditions.
Large screens and upgraded AV have also been added for live sport, DJs, live music and seasonal events. Mixed-height tables, communal seating and open sightlines have been introduced for casual drinks, group catch-ups and game-day crowds.

Inside, the ground floor pub acts as the main bar and dining space, with screens for sport and flexible seating for lunch, after-work drinks and larger gatherings. The atrium adds another dining and function area.
Upstairs, the Grove Bar and Terrace includes booth seating, AV and lighting upgrades, a sports screen and a children’s playground. The space has been designed for families visiting Federation Square, as well as private functions and major event bookings.
The menu focuses on modern pub food, with parmas, fish and chips, grills and seasonal dishes. Listed dishes include Sticky Soy and Chilli Pork Ribs with crispy noodle, Asian pickles and yuzu sesame, Char-grilled Lamb Skewer with smoked eggplant, za’atar and paprika, Fried Chicken with fermented chilli mayo and guindillas, Pan-fried Barramundi with Good Nature greens and roasted chat, and Spanner Crab and Prawn Spaghetti with confit garlic and chilli butter.

The weekly line-up will include beer garden DJs on Thursdays from 4pm until late, a beer garden DJ and roaming musician on Fridays from 8pm, acoustic music on Saturdays from 4pm, and DJs and roaming musicians from 8pm. Sundays will include a $38 Sunday Roast, free children’s entertainment from 12pm to 3pm and game-day face painters.
Further sports screenings are planned throughout the year, including the World Cup, State of Origin and NFL.
