Led by acclaimed chef Mischa Tropp, Kolkata Cricket Club has quickly become one of Melbourne’s most in-demand restaurants, known for its bold menu and exceptional atmosphere. The addition of this new private dining room cements its position as a go-to destination for events both large and intimate.

Unlike most private dining rooms in Melbourne, this space is fully adaptable. Guests can enjoy intimate gatherings for 20 to 70 seated guests or cocktail-style celebrations for up to 80 people. For larger functions, the area extends seamlessly into the adjoining Sports Bar, hosting up to 120 guests. Those seeking complete exclusivity can opt for full venue hire, transforming Kolkata Cricket Club into a private event haven.

Designed by local interior designer Min Tseng, the space brings to life the warmth and richness of India’s Bengal region. Burnt orange hues flow across the room, complemented by handcrafted lamps from Jaipur and bespoke teak chairs by Scarfo Furniture Melbourne. The result is a setting that feels both exotic and sophisticated, with every detail thoughtfully curated.

The dining experience is a true highlight. Guests can savour Kolkata’s signature dishes that showcase the fire and finesse of Indian cuisine — think flame-licked meats, freshly baked tandoor naans and Melbourne’s most talked-about butter chicken. Beverage packages elevate the occasion further, offering everything from Champagne and rare whiskies to premium Australian-Indian wines from producers such as Bindi and Avani.

Founder and chef Mischa Tropp shared his excitement about the new space, saying, “We’re always thinking about how to make our guests feel at home. This new setup gives us the freedom to tailor each event to what people really want. Whether it’s something intimate, an elegant banquet or a big celebration, it’s all about keeping things fun and flexible.”

Perfect for corporate gatherings, milestone birthdays, or festive end-of-year parties, Kolkata Cricket Club’s private dining Melbourne venue brings a new level of luxury and versatility to the city’s dining scene. Its blend of flavour, atmosphere and personalisation ensures every event is memorable.

Bookings and enquiries for the new private dining space can be made via the Crown Melbourne website.
