New Service to Start in Queensland

On April 24, 2026, Martinus Group announced the launch of its new bulk commodity haulage service, marking a strategic collaboration with CRRC Ziyang Co., Ltd., a renowned Chinese locomotive manufacturer. Martinus Haulage aims to provide long-term rail transport solutions with its own fleet of locomotives and wagons.

Starting in Queensland, the new service will soon expand into North America and Chile, aligning with Martinus Group‘s global growth strategy. The launch represents a significant milestone in the company’s evolution from a rail construction business to a comprehensive railway services provider.

Treaven Martinus, CEO of Martinus Group, expressed enthusiasm about this development: “We build railways, now we operate them. Backed by a new fleet and long-term strategy.” This transition marks the group’s shift from constructing railways to providing a full railway offering, including development, design, construction, operation, and maintenance.

Strategic Evolution and Global Expansion

Over the past two decades, Martinus Group has grown from a rail construction company into a trusted partner for government infrastructure projects. It operates complex rail projects across Australia, New Zealand, North America, and Chile. The launch of Martinus Haulage further solidifies its role in the railway sector.

The partnership with CRRC Ziyang Co., Ltd. was established after a comprehensive evaluation process. This collaboration grants Martinus Haulage access to a ‘new-generation’ fleet, facilitating its entry into Queensland’s narrow gauge bulk haulage network and supporting future global expansion.

CRRC Ziyang, a subsidiary of CRRC Corporation Limited, specialises in locomotive production and has exported over 1,400 diesel locomotives to 37 countries, including those in Asia, Africa, America, and Australia. This partnership is a testament to Martinus Group’s commitment to delivering innovative and reliable rail solutions.

In addition to its expansion efforts, Martinus Group is enhancing its capabilities as a global leader in railway infrastructure. The company now offers a complete package that covers the entire lifecycle of railway projects, from development through to operation and maintenance. As a result, Martinus is uniquely positioned to offer both above and below rail solutions.
