Six million Australians use Medibank Group brands

Medibank Group released its 2026 annual report on 16 September 2026, outlining growth in health insurance and health services during FY26.

The company said more than six million people in Australia use Medibank, ahm and Amplar Health for health insurance and other care services.

FY26 also marked a milestone before Medibank’s 50th anniversary in October 2026. Medibank said it began in 1976 as the only private health fund that covered Australia and has since expanded into a broader health company.

Amplar Health supported 5.3 million patient interactions during the year. Meanwhile, customers received more than $250 million in savings through Members’ Choice and no gap networks.

Medibank also invested $11.5 million in mental health initiatives in FY26. That spending forms part of the group’s five-year, $50 million commitment to mental health programs.

Brand relaunch set for 1 October 2026

The 2026 annual report gives the first public look at a refreshed Medibank Group brand identity. The company plans to launch it officially on 1 October 2026, the same month it marks 50 years since Medibank began.

Medibank said the new identity is meant to reflect the group’s history while drawing a clearer line between the Medibank Group and its consumer brands Medibank, ahm and Amplar Health.

The company said it used elements of its original 1976 identity in the redesign. It described the update as a way to recognise its past while preparing for future growth.

In a joint message, chair Mike Wilkins AO and chief executive David Koczkar pointed to FY26 as evidence of the group’s strategy and its expanding role in Australia’s health system.

“This October marks 50 years of Medibank,” Wilkins and Koczkar said. “For 50 years, we have stood alongside people in Australia to help them choose the right care and access it when it matters most.”

The report also notes deeper customer engagement and continued investment aimed at improving access to care. In primary care, Medibank expanded its network through the acquisition of Better Medical.

Wilkins and Koczkar added that customers now turn to the group for more than health insurance. They said people also use Medibank for health and wellbeing support through its broader mix of services.
