Mill Place Merchants Valentine’s Day offering revealed

Valentine’s Day menu and cocktails at Mill Place Merchants

Mill Place Merchants has announced its Valentine’s Day menu, confirming a limited run of food and cocktail specials across mid February. The Melbourne speakeasy will feature period-inspired drinks, curated dishes and live jazz throughout the service window.

The venue operates from a heritage 1840s building hidden within Melbourne’s laneways. Guests enter through a concealed dressing room that opens into a candlelit interior. Inside, antique artefacts, books, gramophones and candelabras define the space. As a result, the setting reflects hospitality traditions from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

For Valentine’s Day, Mill Place Merchants has curated a menu influenced by historic European dining culture. The specials will run alongside the venue’s existing cocktail list and canape offering. Live jazz will perform throughout the evening, setting a consistent background tone rather than acting as a headline feature.

The Valentine’s Day cocktail list includes a Punch à la Romaine. The drink blends rum, orange juice, lemon juice, sugar syrup, sparkling wine and aquafaba. Historically, the cocktail featured at nineteenth century European banquets and later appeared on early twentieth century luxury menus. Therefore, it anchors the Valentine’s Day offering with a strong historical reference.

Food specials draw from 20th-century dining traditions. The Vintage Prawn Cocktail includes smoked pepper, avocado crème, frisée hearts and Marie Rose sauce. The dish reflects the classic presentation associated with formal high society dining.

Dessert offerings include a White Chocolate Framboise Ganache. The dish features berries, berry gum gel and a finish of 24-carat gold leaf. The flavour profile balances sweetness and acidity. Meanwhile, the presentation references historic European dessert salons, aligning with the venue’s broader theme.

Valentine’s Day availability and menu details

Alongside the Valentine’s Day specials, Mill Place Merchants will continue to serve its established canape menu. Options include Western Australian lobster and king prawn rolls, Wagyu meatball skewers, salmon roe and champagne fried chicken. These dishes remain available throughout the Valentine’s Day period, and support shared dining.

Mill Place Merchants positions itself as a cocktail-focused venue rather than a traditional restaurant. Seating includes leather armchairs and low tables, with table service across the venue. For this reason, bookings are recommended during the Valentine’s Day period.

The Valentine’s Day Punch à la Romaine, Vintage Prawn Cocktail and White Chocolate Framboise Ganache will be available from 10th February to 14th February.
