Rabobank’s Initiative for Farmers
Rabobank will host a free financial skills workshop for farmers in Naracoorte, South Australia, on July 22, 2026. The event aims to provide primary producers with essential financial management tools.
Organised by the SA Rabo Client Council, the workshop is open to all farmers, regardless of whether they are current Rabobank clients. It will focus on understanding financial statements, banking needs, and key business management ratios.
The workshop, limited to 30 participants, will be led by Tony Hudson, director of Hudson Facilitation. It offers a hands-on approach to enhance financial literacy among farmers, addressing complexities in managing agricultural enterprises.
Participants will explore topics such as taxation versus management accounting and understanding key components of a business’s financial profile. This knowledge is essential for managing a farming business effectively.
Workshop Benefits for Farming Families
Peter Evans, Rabobank’s state manager for South Australia, stated, “The workshop equips farmers with the financial skills and tools needed to manage increasingly complex agricultural enterprises.” He highlighted the importance of understanding financial reporting and banking requirements.
Evans encouraged families to attend together to foster a unified understanding of financial management. “The sessions give farming families the chance to step away from day-to-day demands of their businesses and strengthen their financial skills together,” he noted.
Since 2018, over 5,400 farmers have benefited from these workshops across Australia and New Zealand, according to Rabo Client Council member Joe Cook. He remarked, “The Rabo Client Council network is focused on developing meaningful grassroots initiatives to support key themes focused on building industry capacity, championing rural wellbeing and strengthening the rural-urban connection.”
The workshop will take place from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, with provisions for morning tea and lunch. Interested participants are encouraged to register via the Rabobank Australia website before spots fill up.
Rabobank’s Rabo Client Councils lead and fund these initiatives to make a meaningful impact on the vibrancy and resilience of rural Australia. These councils consist of innovative and forward-thinking Rabobank clients passionate about community improvement.
